Why I write Sapphic Black Romance

I write Black sapphic romance because these are the stories I want to see more of in the world.

There isn't a lot out there that centers Black women loving other Black women in a way that felt soft, genuine, and full of joy. Too often, our stories are filled with struggle, heartbreak, or the idea that love has to be complicated to be meaningful. While those stories have their place, I wanted to write something different.

I wanted to write stories where Black women get to be loved openly, deeply, and without apology. Stories where they're successful, vulnerable, funny, ambitious, and fully themselves. Stories where they don't have to earn love by suffering for it. They deserve it because they're worthy of it.

One thing that's important to me is showing that softness isn't a weakness. Choosing kindness, being vulnerable, trusting someone with your heart, and allowing yourself to be loved takes incredible strength. That's something I try to weave into every relationship I write.

I also want my readers to see themselves in my characters. Maybe it's in a conversation, a quiet moment, a shared laugh, or simply seeing two Black women build a healthy relationship together. Representation isn't just about seeing someone who looks like you, it's about seeing your joy, your love, your tenderness, and your future reflected back at you.

At the heart of every book I write is the same message: you are worthy of a love that feels safe, genuine, patient, and kind. I hope that when you close one of my books, you leave with a smile, a little more hope, and the reminder that your love story deserves to take up space, too.
