Who am I? Why writing?

I've loved writing for as long as I can remember.

When I was a kid, I'd write for just about any reason. If I was bored, I'd make up a story. If I had an assignment for school, I couldn't wait to get started. But more than anything, writing was how I expressed myself. It was the one place where I could say exactly what I was feeling and let my imagination go wherever it wanted.

After high school, life got busy. Like so many people, I had responsibilities, and writing slowly found its way to the back burner. I never stopped loving it, but I stopped making time for it. Then life happened.

During one of the hardest times of my life, I found my way back to writing. What started out as an escape, quickly reminded me how much I had missed it. The more I wrote, the more I realized this wasn't just something I enjoyed, it was a part of who I was. It gave me peace, it gave me purpose, and it gave me something to look forward to again.

Every time I sat down with my notebook or laptop, I felt a little more like myself. It became the one place where I could slow down, clear my mind, and simply create. The more I wrote, the more I remembered why I had fallen in love with storytelling in the first place. It wasn't about finishing a book or reaching a goal. It was about the joy of creating something from nothing and getting lost in a story for a little while.

That's when I realized writing had never really left me. I had just stepped away from it for a while.

I made the decision to stop treating writing like something I'd get back to "one day" and start treating it like the dream it had always been. It wasn't an overnight decision, and it certainly wasn't the easiest one, but it was the right one.

Turning something I'd loved since I was a little girl into a career has been one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. Every story I write reminds me why I came back, and every book I finish reminds me that I was always meant to do this.
